RIPE FRUIT II

THE ART OF EDITING AND REVISION

A fundamental course in balance, density, and composition

HERE YOU WILL:

  • develop the compositional skills required for longer pieces of work: focus, unity, and inner structure
  • discover what it takes to bring a piece to completion
  • become an insightful editor of your own work

IN ADDITION YOU WILL:

  • deepen & amplify your art of languaging training so that it irrevocably takes root
  • explore the music and rhythm of prose by understanding the poetry of the sentence
  • learn the essence of structure through prose poetry (form) and autobiography (content)

IN THE END YOU WILL:

  • self-publish a chapbook (sold on consignment at City Lights Bookstore)
  • participate in a public reading at Modern Times Bookstore
  • be amazed at how far youv’e come

When you graduate from RF I, Soulfood Memoir and RF II, the three fundamental courses at RIPE FRUIT, you will have the foundation to move with confidence into any writing form: short story, creative non-fiction, poetry, playwriting, memoir, provocative emails, love letters…

Regardless of your experience level coming into these two courses (beginning or advanced), you will grow to a maturity level you hadn’t imagined was possible. Quality in writing and editing will be second nature to you now, something you will recognize both as a writer and as a reader of books. You can never lose this. You’ll be able to go anywhere…and write with strength, originality, and emotional power.

Prerequisite: Ripe Fruit I class or writing experience is required.
